Testers Keepers: Guess review by Craig Taylor

Posted on 04 March 2019

I would like to start by making a point, which I think is quite a valid one, and that is the closest store is 45 miles away in Liverpool, which is an hour and 10 minute drive.

The large glass front looked very impressive on approach, with a well dressed display. Once in the store I looked for the men’s department, which was located upstairs and substantially smaller than the women’s section.

The men’s section is also shared with the children’s section. Initially I was quite disappointed with the lack of choice but on perusal found that there were quite a few items that I liked, which is quite unusual as I am very particular when it comes to clothing.

All of the jeans/trousers seemed to be skinny fit; unfortunately I am not all that skinny from the waist up.

I picked out two pairs of jeans, one pair of trousers, a long sleeved top and a denim jacket. The first pair of jeans I tried was labeled as size 32W, 32L that I generally fit in without a problem; I could barely get them up my legs never mind over my bum and nowhere near being able to fasten.

Next I tried the trousers, which I managed to get on without a problem, although were rather snug around the groin area, but being stretchy material were still quite comfortable.

I also put on the long sleeved top and the denim jacket with the trousers and got my wife to take some photos of me in them. I then tried the second pair of jeans on which I was the most impressed with, despite them being the most expensive at £85.00.

The staff were very polite and very well dressed in items of clothing from the store.
I was left to browse in my own time without being hounded. There is nothing worse than staff following you around the store trying to get you to buy things you don’t want.

I purchased two of the items I tried on, the £85 jeans and the long sleeved top. Guess is not the kind of store I would normally shop in, £85 is far more than I would normally pay for a pair of jeans and I don’t think the quality warrants the high price tag.

To sum up, I will probably visit Guess again but will look for sale items, as full price is a little out of my price range.

Quite impressed with the choice but not sure quality is up to the high price tag. I would like to see a Guess store closer to my hometown or maybe in Manchester, as Manchester is easier to get to than Liverpool.

Overall I had an enjoyable clothes shopping experience at Guess, Liverpool.
